Terms of Use
Last updated October 6, 2026
These terms govern your use of residenthelp.org, including the intake form, sign-in, the member portal, and the Residency Record (together, the “Service”), operated by Resident Help. By using the Service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information, not legal advice
Content on this site is general information about graduate medical education and employment processes. It is not legal advice about your situation and may not reflect the law in your state. Deadlines can be short and strict; do not rely on this site to protect them. Talk to a lawyer licensed in your jurisdiction about your facts.
2. No attorney client relationship
Browsing the site, creating an account, using the Residency Record, subscribing, or submitting an intake does not make us your lawyers. A relationship begins only when you and we sign a written engagement agreement describing the scope of work. Until then, we have not agreed to act for you and are not tracking any deadline on your behalf. We treat what you share through intake as confidential prospective-client information.
3. Who may use the Service
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding agreement. Accounts are personal. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your Google account secure. Tell us promptly at intake@residenthelp.org if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you submit or store, including intake details, documents, and Residency Record items. You give us a limited permission to host, process, and display that content only as needed to run the Service and to respond to you. You confirm you have the right to share what you upload.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload identifiable patient information or anyone else’s protected health information;
- submit false information or impersonate another person;
- upload malware, or probe, scan, or try to bypass security or access another person’s data;
- scrape, overload, or interfere with the Service, or use it to harass anyone; or
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
We may remove content or suspend access that violates these terms or puts others at risk.
6. Residency Record
The Residency Record is a free organizing tool. It does not give legal advice, does not calculate legal deadlines, and is not a substitute for keeping your own copies. Download and back up anything important. Content is private to you and is not reviewed by our staff.
7. Referrals and outside counsel
When we refer you to another lawyer, that lawyer is independent and solely responsible for their advice and work. We neither pay nor accept anything of value for referrals. Our attorneys are admitted only in the jurisdictions listed on the About page.
8. Our content
Site text, design, and original materials belong to Resident Help. You may share links and brief excerpts with attribution for non-commercial purposes. Court opinions and government sources we cite remain public; our summaries of them are not a substitute for the source.
9. Third-party sites
Links to courts, agencies, and other sites are provided for convenience. We do not control and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome, and nothing on this site promises a result, a reinstatement, a settlement, or a timeline.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Resident Help and its volunteers, staff, and attorneys will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, opportunities, or deadlines, arising from use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to $100. These limits do not apply to any duty owed under a signed engagement agreement, which is governed by that agreement and the rules of professional conduct.
12. Ending use
You may stop using the Service and ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or end access for violations of these terms or to protect the Service or others. Sections 2, 4, and 8 through 13 survive.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be heard in the courts located in the District of Columbia, unless the law of your state gives you a right to bring a claim where you live.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. The current version and its date are always posted here. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms; we will give notice of material changes before they take effect.
15. Contact
